Constructed during the Meiji era, the Red Brick Warehouse boasts a history spanning roughly 100 years. In 2002, the warehouse was renovated and also received a new lighting installation. The sight of the warehouse, illuminated in a vibrant red brick color in the evenings, is uplifting. The surrounding lawn area offers a close-up view of the illuminated warehouse, a reminder of the good old days of Yokohama. The waterfront space between Warehouse No. 1 and Warehouse No. 2 is a particularly popular location. The view of the Red Brick Warehouse and the Landmark Tower from the seaside creates a stunning worldview, blending the contrast of past and future. The warehouse has also been designated as a “Heritage of Industrial Modernization” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, one of the “Top 50 Night Views of Yokohama,” and a “Night View Heritage of Japan.” Numerous events are currently held here, making it a highly attractive tourist spot.
